Information of the recruitment made through the Competitive Examination

On receipt of the requisition from the Government to select the candidates for the posts shown in the Table-I falling under the purview of the Commission, the advertisement is published by the Commission in the leading Gujarati, English newspapers and Gujarat Rojgar Samachar.

The candidates are selected on the basis of the marks secured by them in the written examination or written examination and viva voce, subject to satisfying the eligibility norm. After sending the recommendation of the selected candidates to the Government by the Commission, The Government issues the order of appointment / training.

How to Apply

Application form can be obtained in any of the following manners:-

A.    The application form will be available from the office of the Commission

B.    If the application form is published in the newspaper, application should be made as per format given in the advertisement

C.    The application format can be downloaded from this website

D.   A Photocopy of the application form can be utilised

For the General category candidates,

1.    In respect of Option (A), application form will be available from the office of the Commission by paying the amount of Rupees 50/- in cash or by sending the crossed Indian Postal order in the name of “The Secretary, Gujarat Public Service Commission, Ahmedabad.”

2.    In respect of Option (B), candidate shall require to pay examination fee mentioned in the advertisement along with filled application form.

3.    In respect of Option (C) & (D), candidate shall require to pay examination fee mentioned in the advertisement plus Rupees 50/- as application form fee along with filled application form.

While in respect of Option (A), (B), (C) & (D),

·  The candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes and Socially and Educationally Backward Classes of Gujarat origin and Physically Disabled person areexempted from the payment of application fee & examination fee.

·  Such candidates should produce a certified copy of the Caste certificates / Medical certificate of Physically Disability issued by the competent officer, as the case may be.

Examination Fee

1.    The Unreserved / General Candidates shall require to pay the examination fee as mentioned in the advertisement.

2.    Examination fee may be paid in cash in person along with the application form at the counter of the office of the Commission or by the crossed Indian Postal Order drawn in the favour of “The Secretary, Gujarat Public Service Commission, Ahmedabad - 380001."

3.    The examination fee shall not be accepted in the form of postal stamps or by money order or in any other form.

4.    Once the application is received by the Commission, no request for refund of the fee shall be entertained nor shall this fee be kept reserved for any other examination or selection.

5.    The candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Socially and Educationally Backward Classes of Gujarat origin only andPhysically Disabled shall not require to pay examination fee.

6.    Ex-servicemen who have retired after the completion of their general services in the armed forces and those who are eligible to appear at the competitive examination for the posts of Class-III, are exempted from payment of the application form fee and examination fee, but they are not eligible to get such exemption from the competitive examination of class-I and Class-II posts.

Age limit:

The relaxation in the upper age limit is available as per the details shown in the advertisement published by the Commission. The following relaxation shall be available as per the existing provisions:

1.    Five years relaxation shall be available to the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Socially and Educationally Backward Classes of Gujarat origin only, subject to the posts reserved for such category.

2.    The woman candidates of the reserved categoryshall be granted the relaxation of ten years in the upper age limit, subject to maximum age limit of 45 years.

3.    The woman candidates of general category shall be granted the relaxation of five years in the upper age limit, subject to maximum age limit of 45 years.

4.    Subject to the provision of the advertisement,Physically Disabled candidates who are capable of performing the duties of the concerned posts as a normal person, shall be eligible to get the relaxation often years in the upper age limit on producing the Medical Certificate of the Medical Board.,

5.    The age relaxation of five years in competitive examinations for Class-I and Class-II posts, shall be available to Commissioned Officers including Ex-serviceman/ ECO/ S. S. Cos. who have rendered at least five years military service and have been released on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be completed within six months) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of physical disability attributed to military service or invalidity. While for Class-III posts, the ex-serviceman shall be granted the age relaxation by the length of military service plus three years, in accordance with the provision of the advertisement.

6.    The Government Servants shall not be eligible to get the relaxation in the upper age limit.

Evidence of the age

The Commission consider the S.S.C.E. certificate only as the evidence of birth date. But if candidate believes that birth date which is shown in S.S.C.E. certificate is wrong he should send the true copy of the certificate of Age and Domicile given by the competent authority. The Authorised Officer should clarify to the effect that he has checked original certificate of Matriculation and S.S.C.E. on the basis of the evidences produced before him, the true birth date of the candidate is (write date here), which differs from that of certificate of Matriculation (S.S.C.E.) or its equivalent examination and there are ample reasons to believe such. Thecredibility of the certificate of Age and Domicile will be checked by the Commission and its acceptance shall be subject to the decision of the Commission. No affidavit shall be accepted as the evidence of age.

Caste Certificate

The candidates belonging to S.C., S.T. and S. & E.B.C. shall have to produce the self attested copy of the caste certificate issued by the competent authority in the prescribed form in accordance with prevalent rules along with the application.

Eligibility:

For the entrance to the examination, a candidate should be -

A.    A citizen of India, or

B.    A subject of Nepal, or

C.    A subject of Bhutan, or

D.   A Refugee from Tibet, who should have migrated to India for permanent settlement before 1st January, 1962, or

E.    A person of Indian origin who should have migrated to India for permanent settlement from Pakistan, East Pakistan, (Bangladesh), Burma (Myanmar), Shri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda of East African countries, United Republic Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam. But the Government should have given an eligibility certificate in cases of candidates whose names come in sub-serial (B), (C), (D) and (E).

Note: - The Commission shall consider the application of such candidate in whose case the eligibility certificate is necessary and if his name is recommended for the appointment, he shall be provisionally appointed, provided he shall be issued an eligibility certificate by the Government.

Entrance to the exam.

1.    If the Commission is not satisfied with the eligibility of any candidate and /or if the candidate does not fulfill the requirements including the payment of examination fee, he shall not be permitted in the examination.

2.    As regards the entrance, the decision of the Commission shall be final and no correspondence shall be entertained in this regard.

3.    The candidate who has been permitted in examination shall be communicated by the letter as to the place, date and time of the examination.

4.    The candidates shall remain present at their own expense for written examination or personal interview.

5.    The Scheduled Caste and the Scheduled Tribe candidates shall be paid to and fro second class railway fare or S.T. Bus fare only for their oral test for coming to Ahmedabad as per the prevalent Government rules.

Information of the recruitment made by Direct Selection

On receipt of the requisition from the Government, Commission publish the advertisement in the leadingGujarati, English news papers and Gujarat Rojgar Samachar for recruitment to various posts of Class-I and Class-II under the Government through direct selection i. e. without competitive examination.

On publication of the advertisement, the following procedure is followed for inviting the application forms.

For the General category candidates,

1.    In respect of Option (A), application form will be available from the office of the Commission by paying the amount of Rupees 50/- in cash or by sending the crossed Indian Postal order in the name of “The Secretary, Gujarat Public Service Commission, Ahmedabad.”

2.    In respect of Option (B) & (C), candidate shall require to pay application fee Rupees 100/-plus Rupees 50/- as application form fee along with filled application form.

While in respect of Option (A), (B) & (C),

·  the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes and Socially and Educationally Backward Classes of Gujarat origin and Physically Disabled person areexempted from the payment of application fee & examination fee.

·  Such candidates should produce a certified copy of the caste certificates / Medical certificate of Physically Disability issued by the competent officer, as the case may be.

Submission of application

1.    All the details of the application form shall be filled in by the candidate in his own handwriting. Before filling up the application form, the candidate should refer the advertisement in details and the Instructions to the candidates attached with the application form also.

2.    A recent passport size photograph shall be affixed on the application form and the appendix.

3.    Application fee

A.    Candidates of General category shall require to pay Rupees 100/- as an application fee. If the Application form is downloaded from the website OR Photocopy of the form is used,additional application form fee Rupees 50/-should be paid.

B.    Application fee shall be paid in cash on the counter of the Commission's office. Besides this, fee can be paid through Indian Postal Order. The Indian Postal Order shall be in the name of "Secretary, Gujarat Public Service Commission, Ahmedabad"

C.    The candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Socially and Educationally Backward Classes of Gujarat origin only and Physically Disabled shall not require to pay any fee.

4.    Self attested copy of the following certificates shall invariably be enclosed with the application.

A.    A copy of S.S.C.E. for birth date.

B.    Mark sheet and degree certificate of Graduation.

C.    Mark sheet and degree certificate of Post Graduation.

D.   Experience certificate from the concerned Institution showing details of the duties and salary.

E.    Caste Certificate.

F.    A copy of the medical certificate issued by the Medical Board / Civil Surgeon shall be produced by the Physically Disabled candidates.

G.   In case of teaching post of Medical Education the candidate should submit along with application form a certificate issued by the competent authority of University or College that the Degree obtained by him / her is recognised by Medical Council of India.

5.    Application form shall be sent to the Commission so as to reach by the last date shown in the advertisement.Application forms received after last date shall not be accepted.

Age Relaxation

A relaxation is available in upper age limit as shown in the advertisement of Direct Recruitment.

1.    The upper age limit may be relaxed up to five years in favour of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe and S. & E.B.C. of Gujarat origin only. Provided that, the upper age limit for entry in the service does not exceed 45 years in any case.

2.    A Relaxation of ten years shall be available to thewoman candidates of reserved category, subject tomaximum age limit of 45 years.

3.    A relaxation of five years shall be available to thewoman candidates of General category, subject tomaximum age limit of 45 years.

4.    A relaxation of ten years shall be available in the case of Physically Disabled candidates subject to his/her ability to discharge duties as any other normal person on the basis of production of medical certificate from the Medical Board.

5.    In case of Ex-servicemen / Commissioned officers including E. Cos. / S. S. Cos. the upper age limit shall be relaxed by the length of Military Service plus threeyears subject to the following conditions:

A.    The continuous services rendered in the Armed forces by an Ex-servicemen not less than six months after attestation, and

B.    That resultant age after deducting his period of service from his actual age does not exceed that prescribed age limit by more than three years. And also

C.    The conditions which have been prescribed in respect of appointment of Ex-servicemen to Class-III and Class-IV posts should be satisfied with.

6.    Following age relaxation shall be available to theGujarat Government Servant, who is as a permanent Government servant or as a temporary Government servant officiating continuously for six months in a substantive or leave vacancy or in a vacancy caused as a result of deputation of other servants.

 .     In Direct Selection, the upper age limit shall notbe applicable where an experience has been prescribed as qualification, in the advertisement.

A.    In Direct Selection, the upper age limit shall be applicable where an experience has not been prescribed as qualification, in the advertisement. Provided that –

a.    where an experience has not been prescribed as qualification in direct selection, any Government employee appointed on a Post where a post requiring Medical, Engineering, Veterinary or Agricultural degree or diploma as qualification, if he subsequently applies in response to the advertisement for any such post shall be entitled to relaxation from the application of upper age limit provided he/she, on his/her previous appointment had not crossed the age limit fixed for the post for which he/she applies.

b.            where an experience has not been prescribed as qualification in direct selection, a relaxation equivalent to the Service performed or subject to maximum five years shall be granted in the upper age limit to the Government servant who has been performing his/her duty on the post (cadre) from where promotion is admissible to the post for which an advertisement for the direct recruitment has been published.
